Brief:

Students will explore a personal theme/themes of their choice, and select source material as a basis for their finished paintings.

Students are asked to observe, record, anaylse and interpret a variety of subjects including:
  • The manufactured environment
  • Still life objects
  • Portraiture
  • The natural enviroment
  • The human figure

All research work including preparatory sketches, collected imagery, photographs, samples, painting techniques and notes, and critical written analysis of art movements covered within the project should be contained in an A3 notebook.


General Aims:

To explore shape, line, colour and texture through creating a series of paintings

To discover your creative potential and creativity, self expression and visual awareness through painting

To feel confident with painting as a means of communicating and generating ideas

To develop observation, recording, manipulation and application skills

To relate your own work to other artists work and understand the historical context of this work

To research colour theory and its uses in communicating ideas through the medium of painting

To present a body of work that is visually and conceptually stimulating

To critically analyse work of your own, of your peers, and of famous artists
